Yunna Akiko

My name is Yunna Akiko. I am 19 years old, and I am proud to call Key West, Florida, my home. Living in such a colorful, eclectic place, I’ve learned very quickly that people have a habit of judging a book by its cover. Because I am a young Asian woman, I encounter the same assumption over and over again: people assume I am a "progressive" activist, a sympathizer of the radical left, or someone who buys into the identity politics that are tearing our country apart. Nothing could be further from the truth. I believe in the bedrock principles that made this nation the greatest experiment in human history: the Constitution, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and the rule of law. I reject the "woke" culture that seeks to divide us, and I refuse to be told how to think or who to vote for just because of my demographic. I am a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump. I admire his strength, his commitment to putting the American worker first, and his refusal to apologize for being a patriot. My absolute greatest regret is that I was just a few months too young to cast my ballot for him in the 2024 election. It was agonizing to watch from the sidelines while my country’s future was on the line, knowing I didn’t have the legal right yet to add my voice to the tally. I have immense respect for the generations before me—the men who built this country, fought for our freedoms, and held onto the values that matter. I’m not looking for a "safe space." I’m looking for a future where hard work, merit, and common sense are the standards of success once again. I am proud to be an American, and I am proud to stand with the silent majority. We have a country to save, and I intend to do my part.
